Well my ranger that runs like a champ was my DD then I hit black ice.. but it's getting fixed. It'll be my DD in a couple months after I clean up the engine and everything else.

I had intermittant issues with temp, oil, and fuel gauges reading high or low.
It turned out to be a battery connection problem, so a voltage problem. I replaced both the battery cables for another reason, and the gauge problems disappeared as well. Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight as well as the smaller leads and their connections. |

OK. WORDS OF WARNING.......
Since it's heating real quick... I would assume that if you check the coolant level, you might find that it's REAL LOW..... IF, SO, ..... do NOT drive, I repeat..... DO NOT DRIVE, BUT good chance that the damage is done, assume you have a coolant leak into the oil, and if you you do, I would also assume that the cam bearings are toast (this is the reason for no oil pressure. FYI I drive where it's cool (canada) and currently I'm using 80/90 in the ENGINE, to get around the toasted cam bearings, until I can change the engine... Check the coolant level, if low, I'll repeat it once more...... do NOT drive it.... Greg |

i also had a dodge truck that PO put a new batt cable on, it was just a universal. only went to engine block. no groung to chassis. when stopped, everything was fine, as soon as i started rolling temp went to hot, light would go dim from not charging. was grounding through wheel bearings! so, CHECK YOUR GROUNDS!

Ah. That is better. Also sucks. I know a lot of guys here just keep fixing these old things with no plans to buy another vehicle that isn't to be used as a parts donor.
