Hello everybody.

So I have this rare problem. This happens to me randomly when starting the truck. Sometimes the check engine blinks, It’s not flashing showing a code or something. The light blinks, appears to be a bad electrical contact. When the light di this blinking on and off very fast and sometimes it’s totally off the truck don’t start, so I turn the key off and on till the light it’s steady an the truck start. Most of the time the light it ok and the truck start but whe this blinking light appears and the truck don’t start it’s really annoying.

Any ideas what can cause this problem?
Thanks to all!

Check your owner's Manuel. There should be a code/key that tells you what the blinking means.

Thanks for your response but the light don’t flash with a pattern that can be translated Into a code.
It’s a false contact flashing.
Maybe a relay?

Thanks

CEL(check engine light) won't flash codes in 1996 model

Flashing CEL means computer is seeing a bad problem, usually that only happens while engine running and is misfiring.

Stop by auto parts store and they can check if any Codes have been set in memory, they do it for free.
WRITE DOWN any code numbers, "I think it was........" is more useless than no code at all, lol

Could be the computer is failing, not booting up correctly which is why the flashing CEL and why engine won't start.

Check Fuse #4 in engine fuse box, thats for the horn and for backup power for computer.
Also clean battery cables and terminals they may be dirty/corroded and you are losing full time power when key is off
