Have a 97 Ranger that has a 4r44e at, a 3.0 engine and is 2 wheel drive. Had to rebuild the transmission do to no thid gear. I rebuilt it myself, whith a rebuild kit I bought online. I went by the manual during the build. I installed it and put 9.5 quarts of transmission fluid in it and started it up and put it in reverse and nothing, moved the gearshift to neutral and I felt it goe in reverse moved it down to each poison and felt like it went into gear pushed on gas and it would barely move forward. I don't know what I did wrong. Sure would appreciate some help. Are any of the solenoids bad. Did I not line up the valve body right. I don't know what to look for. The shift cable did come apart whereit clamps on to the bracket

What does the book say for total fluid capacity? Make sure it is full.

Also, did you follow the sequence for seating the torque converter into the trans? If you do it wrong it will not engage the pump and will likely damage the pump when you bolt the trans to the engine and force the TC hub into the pump.

If you have a different title for your thread than your username I can change it for you.

Yes i fallowedThe sequence in the manual on torque converter. Looks like it wouldn't go into reverse if the tc wasn't seated. Fluid capacity is 9.5 quarts

My credo
If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem
What did you find wrong when you disassembled the transmission? How did you align the pump halves?
