2 pin conector splits off engine harness at front of block. blue wire and white wire.

Yep indeed. Pretty sure it goes to something on the front passenger side of the block. You can see what it connects to under the vehicle on that side.

Sounds like it could the be Variable Reluctance Sensor/Crankshaft Positioning Sensor.

Usually the wire colors are Dark Blue and Grey on that two pole plug.
