Driving the Frankenstein B2 around for a few days, still got a lot of work to do, but one thing I noticed is the steering. Slightest turn on the steering wheel will turn the bronco. It's not a big thing, just not what I'm use to. going down the road at 45 to 55 it will swerve, just a little, in response to any little movement in the steering wheel. totally opposite of my Jeep. I've got to replace the tires, and the power steering fluid is low (cap wants to twist on the "remove" position when driving, I'll get a new cap)

was just curious on feedback, if this is the norm with a Bronco 2.

Also, I've heard tell that you can use automatic transmission fluid as a substitute for Power steering fluid, is this true?

You here all kinda stuff from shade tree mechanics, I don't know what to believe and what not to believe......

In a pinch, yeah, it'll get you home. You can also use brake fluid, in a pinch. But you don't want to be driving around too long with either, because it will eventually destroy your PS pump.

No, the CORRECT fluid for a B2 is Type F ATF. Basically every Ford ever made uses some kind of ATF in the power steering and that's what you're SUPPOSED to use. It's right there in the owner's manual.

It's also right here:

Because Ford is retarded? :dunno: lol I think they say power steering fluid so people know it's for the PS system. If it said ATF people would think that's where to add fluid for the trans.

The "wandering" is probably your toe out of spec. Go get an alignment.

Not the only one up early eh!

I booted my 17 year old son out last night, I'm kinda worried about him. Had to exhibit some "tough love".

Just browsing around keeping my mind off of it.

We got some crap alignment shops around here, they really try to rip you off.
I'll get it checked out but I'll probably be looking for info here on front ends, just to compare with what they say
