I have been dealing with a system lean code (p0171) It has taken me a long time to figure out what was wrong but I am almost certain it is my vacuum hoses. I hooked up a smoke machine and I am getting smoke out of my vacuum hoses on the back of my intake manifold. There is 2 I am mostly concerned about. They both come off the back of the intake manifold. One is a molded hose that looks like it goes to the crank case. The other one is a 90 degree boot with 2 small hoses. One going to my round sphere that continues to the heater core. the other hose leaves the manifold and goes to my IMRC. I have tried all the junk yards in my area. the 2.3 rangers are very hard to find. I have check numerous places online for these hoses with no luck. the ford dealership considers these hoses to be obsolete, therefore I can not find them anywhere. if anyone knows someone who could sell me these lines or a good idea where I can find them please let me know! thank you.

You don't find them, you patch them. Buy some 1/8" ID rubber line, cut a section a little longer than your break, put the rubber over the plastic hardline, and seal the connection with super glue.

I did that for years on my 2.9, until it got to the point where my hard lines were more patch than original material, and I just re-ran them all as rubber.
