Ok I am going ahead w a 4.0 swap. I have a 91 explorer donor for my 88 B2, question is when doing the dash can I leave the plastic air box and ducting intact or do I have to pull out everything and use all the explorer stuff, reason I ask is if I don't have to swap the plastic out then I will leave it there and start the dash and wiring. also will the pedals work or do I have to swap them also. My B2 is a 5speed and the donor is also, thanks for any experienced input.

The pedals should be good.

Since it sounds like you're swapping the dash, it's pretty likely that you'll need to swap the vent ducting as well. But, with Ford anything is possible. Does it look the same?

On my swap I changed the heater and air.The donor had air if I choose to charge it and get it working. You will know the cables and plugs will all fit perfectly if you change.Take some time with your donor see what works and what doesn't on the dash helps in diagnosis after the swap gauges lights etc.

On dad and I's swap, it was everything out. Wiring, and a bare firewall. There is one plate on the 88 firewall that you will have to pull to install your pedals.

We tried using the inner air box, but we had some heater box control issues that caused us to swap the inner box, although the outer boxes are similar.
any questions just PM me and i can probably help you.

Explorer harness runs the rear lights inside the body. The Ranger harness runs them outside. Meaning they have to be spliced. It's like hooking up a trailer light connector.
