Hey. So I'm just mapping out my 99-01 Xploder 5.0 swap. Reading good things about the GT40P heads but what about the Intake Manifolds?

I see Trick Flow makes a Ford 5.0 intake but does the bolt patterns align? Has anyone swapped anything?

You can swap just about any SBF intake from the 221 to the latest 5.0L without a problem. That's the beauty of some of the Ford parts, really interchangeable thru the years. I'm sure you have read that the "P" heads have limited header selection but still most headers will bolt up to them.

Okay I found the only little issue I may encounter is the HO intakes usually have 2 vacuum ports on the rear of the intake and the Explorer late model intakes use a 3 port. So just need to get a 'T' for the vacuums.

Appretiate the info. Tech Articles are incredible!

Make sure the upper it is for the GT-40/Cobra engine if you want to reuse the lower that came with your Explorer engine. They have staggered intake ports vs the inline ports of a mere mortal HO/standard intake.

They have pics on here:
