After-Market Outside Temperature Indicator?

I have an '01 Edge and would really like to have an outside (air) temperature gauge. Does anyone make one that's easy to read/install?

I have an original Scan Gauge that reads Intake Air temperature but that's not always completely accurate, with respect to ambient air temp.

Gentex makes rear view mirror with compass and outside temp display, not inexpensive, but very nice looking upgrade

I have one of those cheap jobs you get at any of parts stores (uses a little AAA battery). Probably even walmart. I am not real happy with it. Sitting in the garage it is spot on. But, outside or with the truck operating I don't think it is very accurate.

I think the problem I have is finding a place to put the sensor that doesn't pickup heat from the truck or the engine, or the road. It is amazing how hot the road gets with the sun shining on it. Last summer, while in the CA desert, it would read about 130 degrees going down the road when the outside temp was around 105.

Check out the explorer overhead console mod, cost me about $20 and is simple and easy to do.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have a look at everything mentioned. The Ex overhead console sounds the most promising.

I have one of these, and I'm pretty happy with it. Finding a spot to stick it might be tough, but I just wedged it in the ashtray on my truck and it actually looks like it belongs there. It's got a fairly quick refresh rate and is fairly in inexpensive, though it is not the most accurate (seems to be off by as much as 3 degrees sometimes).

I've found that mounting the probe about midway up on the antenna seems to yield decent results. As long as I'm moving I think there is so much air that whips around that area that the engine heat never really affects it. Even in stop and go traffic I don't see that much of a rise. The wire and probe are so thin that with a little but of heat shrink tubing you really don't even notice anything there unless you're looking.
