I finally completed the Mustang rear brake conversion on my 2002 Ranger 4WD XLT following the excellent guide on this web site:

http://www.therangerstation.com/how-to/wheels_and_brakes/ford-ranger-bronco-ii-rear-disc-brake-conversion/

I went with 2002 Mustang GT vented rotors.

What to me should have been a one day job took me a full three days with plenty of frustration - all due to a few very subtle gottchas. Well such are vehicle upgrades. At least it didn't require the usual blood sacrifice but I certainly used up my stockpile of expletives.

I still have some clean up to do - correct length steel brake lines and the stupid emergency brake cable system (why no length adjustment is beyond me. Must have saved Ford a good 25 cents per truck). {Oh yes, forgot - the drum brakes had separate automatic adjusters for the emergency brakes. This will take a new plan.)

Still in all, this truck has never had brakes this good since I inherited it from my Dad in 2015.

if you look up the specs, the Mustang's rear rotor center hole is about .002" smaller than the Ranger's rear drum center hole. that's why it needed some persuasion to fit.

Thanks pjtoledo. Wish the website instructions had noted that fact.

I've kept an extensive list of photos and notes from this project which I will have to post somewhere - particularly the gottchas.
