Battery cables?

I think I might need to replace the positive cables.
Daughter just returned from a short trip; went to restart & nothing, everything was dead (dome, radio, etc).
I vaguely recall a similar issue when I sparked the starter changing the oil filter once, and again after I replaced the starter.

This time, I went to start it, turn the key, AC blows, dome light on, go to start & a tiny click somewhere & all is dead again.

Disconnect the pos wire, and put it back on the battery terminal & it fired right up.

So it could be something else; but I want to change the battery wires as they already look 'homemade', stripped ends, spiced into the battery terminal connector, etc.

Can I just go to AZ, Oreilly & get the right length pre made, or will it be a homemade job too?

Could it be something else?

Most likely just a loose wire or connector. I just finished dealing with the same issue and it was the actual wire harness for the positive post on the battery...it runs over to the relay on the fender and down to the starter...it seemed like everything was loose and I just happened to have a spare...swapped it out and tightened everything and no problems since...

You might not find the exact wire setup as it is actually three wires...but you can make one up by copying what you have...just make sure all the connectors are tight and secured properly...use good crimpers if you have them and it might be worth your while to use the heat shrink wraps that are available for the end connectors...

+1 ^^^

And any copper wire exposed to air, like "home made" connectors WILL absolutely corrode over time and need to be cleaned and/or replaced.
So paint it or rubber seal it or heat shrink it to make it last longer.

Nothing wrong with home made cable ends, if you look at 'pre-made' and home made cable ends the only difference is the air exposure of the wire
