I just bought a ranger. I drove and picked it up, at the guys house he had put his battery into it and it started fine and drove fine. I trailered it home and put my battery Into it and nothing. No crank, no power anywhere. I started checking for spark, had none, I checked the ignition wires going into the coil and had power but no power coming out of the coil. I replaced the coil and had spark going to the distributor/engine. Still wouldn't start. I checked for fuel, sprayed starting fluid in and did not start, check the fuel pressure and it was good. Then I realized that both the fuel pumps were constantly running and would shut off after a few seconds like usual. I checked the relay and unplugged it and they still continued to run(I thought unplugging the relay would shut up them off...). I was told the ECM could be keeping them running. Also I was thinking it may be shorting out because some of the wiring is a mess. Any thoughts?
