So I broke an ear on my right side axle shaft and I called the junk yard and they told me 65 dollars per shaft. Whats the going price for a shaft?

You need the inner or outer shaft?

I don't know what the going rate is but I have several spares...

And I'll sell it cheaper than that abusive price

I need the long right side shaft. It broke where it attaches to the outer u joint. I want a full set, left and right, for spares.

Yeah a SAS would be nice, but not right now. The D35 isnt a bad axle, stronger than a 44 in retrospect, Im actually surprised I broke it.

i thought dana 35's were only good up to 33" tires. after that they are likely to break when offroad.

add 35's and 4.88 gears, SNAP

Ive been running 35's for a few months now, 3 trips to Moab on top of local trails rating in excess of an 8/10 and not an issue till last night when I had the wheels cranked fully, flexed the truck out fully, and decided to keep climbing a rock. I thought a u joint would fail over the shaft end.

The HP D35 TTB is a fair bit stronger than the SLA IFS D35... 35s typically are safe to run on it, though like anything, it does have some limits lol

$40-70 seems about the going rate for shafts (inner + outer together) at full-service yards around my area it seems, though it's been a couple years since I've bought any.

Being that your axle ear broke and not the u-joint, I would suspect what likely happened is you lost the c-clip that retains the u-joint cap in the yoke, allowing the cap to walk out. The loose u-joint trunnion was then free to obliterate the axle yoke.

This can help put an end to lost caps:
