Don't get louder, improve your argument.
I'm looking to put a new exhaust on my truck and wanted your opinions.

2000 Ranger XLT 2.5 MT

I'm looking into the Flowmaster 50 series, Flowmaster DBX, and a Magnaflow muffler.

Looking for a little bit louder than stock sound but nothing loud like a Flowmaster 44 Delta Flow. Just looking for a nice purr/rumble.

Honestly? If you want a little more volume than stock. A turbo style Muffler is your best bet. Will add a rumble without adding a ricer sound the the 4 banger. If not. I’d vote flowmaster 50 series.

I’ve been listening to clips for a while but still don’t know. My old ranger had a loud muffler. Some days I loved it, other days I hated it.

I put a Gibson on my truck when it was practically new. I liked it but it was kinda loud and did drone on the inside. When the Gibson muffler rusted a hole (we have state inspection in PA and muffler holes don't pass) I had a Flowmaster DBX installed and I like it.

I posted a few weeks ago about a CGS cat back system. I really like it. It has 0 drone, and just a slight burble at idle. I can feel a slight increase in power. I installed an electric fan prior to the exhaust, but did not notice any performance difference at all.

No experience with either in a Ranger, soon to be FIL has Magnaflow catbacks on his '13 5.0 F-150 and his 2000 Mustang GT.

Both sound good at idle and at low RPM... they kinda beller at higher RPM though. Just kind of a flat 2D "Bwah" sound, no depth to it when they get opened up.

I’m going with Gibson SBF shorty headers and flowmaster supper 50 3”in 2.5” dual out.... with 17” long 3” resonator tips.... this should get me the low grumble and depth of sound I am looking for....
