I know it’s probably way different on your buddy’s 3.0, but on my ’92 4.0, it’s underneath the fuel rail, toward the front of the engine. Which was oh-so-convenient when I had to replace the injectors...

"Bad fuel pressure regulator" isn't a number.

On Ford's "mechanical returnless" fuel systems the fuel filter acts as the FPR. There are two lines on the tank side and only one on the engine side. When pressure on the engine side gets so high is activates a bypass in the filter and starts sending fuel back to the tank.

Yes, post the code number

Ranger Computers have no "Fuel Pressure" sensor so would have no way to tell if there was a "Bad fuel Pressure Regulator".

Could it be EVAP system pressure code, fuel tank's air pressure, not fuel pressure at the engine
Maybe Differential Pressure Feedback(DPFE) code
