Fx4 rear axle

Im looking at a 2002 FX4 "off road" ranger that was rolled.I was wondering what spline axles it has.I know the level IIs have 31 spline and thinking this one should have them also but cant find anything to back it up.It has a manual trans with a manual shift transfer case which I thought was only avail to the level IIs.

Should have 31-spline Torsen 4.10 ratio, in '02 FX4, '03 and up FX4 may not unless they are designated as Level II
Level II option was started in 2003

The 2002 FX4 were all what would become Level II
2003 FX4s had "off-road" package with 8.8" Ford L/S 28-spline axle
Level II added the 31-spline Torsen axle

If it has the manual transmission and t-case, it should also have the updated differential. The early 02 FX4s had a recall and the complete rear axle was replaced. The automatics did not get the recall. Yes, it should have the 31 spline axles with a Torsen and 4.10 gears unless it has been modified.

Would the 2010 FX4 8.8 rear end be a direct bolt to a 1998? I'm want the the disc brakes.

if you want 31 splines, open that sucker up and count 'em to be sure.
the 2010 8.8 from a reg cab 2wd has the big tubes, but only 28 splines. I'm not sure what the FX4 would have.
