Bringing this thread back from the dead.
How about leaf springs. Found a set on Craigslist from an 88 ranger and wondering if they will fit my 98.

ill bust it down in simple form

83-92 are the same(minus dash and front fenders/clip)
93-current are same(minus 3/4 door, dash in 95, and ifs in 98)

core supports/radiator changes break dowm
83-88
89-92(can be modded for 83 headlights/grill) if need be
93-94
95-97
98-current

firewall(only 2 designs)
83-94
95-current

doors(2 designs)(explorer doors and mirrors do not interchange with rangers)
83-92
93-current

the inner structure is the same from 83-last year, so the body mounts are the same minus the radiator support on the front for the 98+(frame horns are a little wider)

back window interchange
regular cabs are the odd ball, 83-97 reg cab back windows interchange

ext cab is 83-current, and 98+ reg cab(only cab that wont bolt to a 97 and older frame) share the same back window

2wd ranger frames are the odd ball, all other rbv are based off the 4wd chassis up to 97.

95-01 exploders have the same front suspension 2wd or 4wd as the 98+ torsion bar rangers

add more as i think of there are differences in wiring.
body lines are different on explorers but the floor pan for the front is the same as a ranger extended cab.

No disrespect, but if can butcher up the suspension like that, slapping a few body panels on it shouldn't be any kind of a challenge.

New guy here... What about using a dash out of a 94 or so ranger, in an 83. Or, is there a dash upgrade that people have done with relative ease into an 83-88 ranger?

Hello, I read this and was wondering about myine. It's a '94 extra cab XLT with a 4'0. It sits as high as a 4x4. I get ask all the time if its a 4x4. It has a towing package I know. 15 in. wheels and has 235's on it. I was told by a guy that it was probably a "high rider" but now after reading this I'm puzzled. I know is not a STX. It was a georgia truck that came to EV when a guy xferred his job up here, and he bought a 4x4. Great truck too, and no rust at all. I have 160 k mis on it now and I think I have some front end issues. I also have a gen I LB that I put a 23 turbo in, but I screwed up and trusted a body shop to do some work, and he talked me into a repaint and he butchered my wheel wells so bad and I just parked it and got this '94. The thing is I have a new front end under my gen I '85. I replaced everything on it but the beams and spindles. and a big sway bar. It handled like a car after that. I'm trying to find out if the front end parts will work in the '94. Hope you can help THX
