Default Do you think...

A 1987 Bronco II with 3:73s a FM145 and a class 3 hitch will be up for towing a 19ft fiberglass boat? I't not more than 3 miles to the ramp so it wouldn't be far.

Just curious...

Ben

Should be alright on that short of a trip. Some 18-19 footers can be pretty heavy... If it's got a real deep hull, Id bet it could be a pain after 20+ miles. Bass boat or ski boat should be fine to tow a distance.

I have a 16" switzer I pull behind my truck a bit. Heavier fiberglass boat. With the trailer brakes I can pull the thing all day. (Reg. cab, short bed, 2.3 5spd)

That 4000 lbs is the truck, you in the seat & your girl or buddy, gas, oil, crap in bed, hitch, 2 inches of mud stuck to frame, etc, and you can tow 2000 lbs. If you are a large gent as I am add 250 to truck and subtract from trailer, plus girl friend or buddy (may be best to take girl friend, cause your buddy will cost more wieght), 300lbs of crap in the bed, etc. So now your down to 1500 lbs or less total trailer capacity............. Not a nice picture.

Hook up, tow it, never look back (except at the good times).
