I have a 88 ranger and headlight switch was bad when you pull the
headlights on you would have to push the handle in about 1/16 of a
inch and the dash would light up and the stem wobbled so I replaced the switch and touched the steel and it blew the fuse replaced fuse put
everything back together and no dash lights any ideas? thanks
for the help.

Have you tried turning the switch knob counter clock wise. Turning the knob clock wise make the dash lights dim, counter clock wise make them bright. If turn all the way counter clock wise until you feel a click the dome light will be turned on. If that's not the problem I would start with checking the fuse again and make sure the contacts that had the fuse are clean and tight. Then use a test light to see if you have power at the light blue/red stripe wire at the head light switch.
