NOOOO NOT THE BII'S! There's so few around here! I hear ya man, getting into these vehicles and seeing them crushed is just sad like one legged orphan mini ponys that you want to tie a skateboard to and push out of the way of danger. lol:icon_rofl:

I would rather see them in a junkyard where the parts from it would get used at least....see quite a few 1st ans 2nd gen rangers in the yards around here... also 1st gen explorers

Freaking awesome!

I was given an '84 Ranger with a 2.8 (had been sitting for a few years) two years back while I was still taking automotive classes. When I got the truck, not a darn thing worked, from wipers, to brakes, to the engine, to you name it. Nine months of hard work and I got it on the road. Been driving it (20k miles) ever since, and recently took the automatic out and put in a 5 speed. :headbang:

I do have one question. Is there a horn switch in that steering wheel? I have the same style steering wheel and it doesn't have any kind of switch or electrical anything in it. Yours is actually the first picture I've seen of the same wheel in a Ranger, that's why I ask.

Thanks greatly rangerin! It's great to get the positive comments! Not sure about the steering wheel and horn I'll have to check. I'm hoping this will be drivable soon 9 months sounds like a good time line!

The horn for that style should be in the steering column; multi-function switch controls turn signal (up or down), high beams (pulled), and horn (pushed in).

Huh, never would of guessed. Thanks! When I got the truck the PO went crazy with wires. It's a miracle I got everything else working the way that it should.

No problem! Not sure if you need this additional info or not, but the horn connector is (or should be) part of the harness which feeds the headlights/turn signals/parking light/NSS, and there should be connections for two horns, though I think most only have the one mounted by the battery.

Ha sweet, went to the pull a part today on my lunch and grabbed an ohc because I forgot the one I pulled when I got the seats last week and the cashier was awesome, she rang me up for a "small clock and gauges" which totaled 10 bucks! Knowingly ignoring the ceiling console she said was to much $18.

Awesome

Ordered fuel sending unit to go with new tank, finally got tired of trying to find something cheaper.
40 bucks isn't too bad I suppose.

Finally got a chance to get the tank in. Always check your gas tank before you install it!

Got the sending unit in after modifying that a little

Yea, so another challenge was the filler tube neck. I'm guessing there's a gasket or something these aftermarket tanks need? I don't care screw it, brazed on the one from the factory tank!

Done, next time I run into one of these "challenges " I'm gonna bring out the torch first thing! !:icon_welder:

The bed and frame flex when going done the road. Having the filler neck brazed to the tank maybe a problem. It may also be harder to get the bed to line up with the filler neck with out being about to move the neck around for alignment. Ford and Doorman sell replacement filler neck seals.

Not my photo just used as reference. Where the blue rags are stuffed into a "neck" of sorts is what I cut off the old tank and brazed onto the new tank. Then the filler neck itself slides into that 2 inch neck. Hope that helps explain. More or less factory so there should be no issues. :D

where did you get your tank from? just wondering why you didn't go for the tank with a rubber filler neck...
