Well there's really no zombies but this thing is back from the dead. 1984 Ranger, parked for 8 years, bought for $35 and coming back to life. I have a few pictures of progress.

No one ever thought it would live again.

Custom Zombie slashed interior!

Zombies collect things right?

Getting new shoes, ya know so Zombie can run faster.

Please forgive me for some of the photos, there was thunder cracking right over our heads as we fought to get these on.

Well after the shoes, we decided to try and wake the zombie, turn over and run with the choke. But as soon as the throttle opened any and choke cut it would die. So I pulled the carburetor to give it a nice cleaning.

Soaking in the bath.

That's all for now, this weekend i get to go play again! Woooo!
Total cost so far: $128. Not to shabby!
Ranger 35
Rims and tires 78
Molasses bath 10
Carb cleaner 5

The tires and wheels were a good place to start. Keep the updates coming.

I hope you plan to get this guy rolling and just clean up the interior. Keep the patina for a little bit, It's a zombie! Perfect for Halloween...

I love seeing a 1st gen coming back from the dead! Looking forward to updates!

Isn't patina just a nice word for rust? lol
I'd like to stop any of that "patina" from spreading. Although on pawn stars they talk about patina and value increasing, wonder how much this thing would bring haha.
Thanks jhammel85

As soon as i found out they fit** i hit up local pull a part. They were to sexy to pass up! 77 bones for tires and rims, 215 70 15's on all but one, had 195 65 15 but I'm not complaining and they have decent tread on them!:D

** they fit once you bore the centers out. So fronts are bored and backs are stock with caps in them.

Thanks for all the comments! Drsvox, I'm slightly guilty of wanting to fix this bad boy up and sell em for a bike. .. but i think i might be addicted now. IDK time will tell

Does anyone know how to decipher or determine what type of carburetor i have? The 2.3 that is in the zombie came out of another ranger but not sure what year. I would assume it would still be within the same gen. It's a dual barrel carb with a sticker that's been beat to snot. Searching these numbers provided me nothing. I may also be looking in the wrong place. Please excuse my ignorance. Searching for rebuild kits and general info.

That Motorcraft P/N should read E87E-9510-AA.

It's an Aisan carb.

Well another Saturday to work on the zombie. Seems to be about the average amount of time I get to work on it. Cleaned the carburetor jets, float bowl, float needle etc. There was so much crap from sitting for eight years.

Slapped it on, ran gas from a can direct to the pump. Ran good and strong.

Decided to try from the tank (hoping it's not full of water/snot/crap) put an in line fuel filter between the fuel line and the pump. To help double filter the gas and see what's coming out of the tank. 4 bucks at Walmart.

Put 5 gallons in the tank and crossed my fingers. Yea so, full of snot. Took the carb back off, cleaned it out again. So now the next step is to drop the tank and clean it.

Got some shots of inside.

Shifter and enough change to pay for the truck!

My high tech instrument cluster.

Central air conditioning. You know because we're in the south :p

I'm no gear head but I'm fairly mechanically inclined. I look forward to doing most of this myself but when I get stuck I do have great assistance, My father! He is always so selfless and ensures he makes time for his kids.
It's always nice to have a thirty ton service truck, every tool imaginable and a master mechanic of 35+ years.

Thanks Dad!
