Good day to all,

I have an 83 ranger with the swap done, and I'm trying to clean things up a bit. I'm now on to the steering shaft. It has been cut and welded, but I would rather not use that anymore. Is there a "popular" shaft that the swappers use for this application?

Thanks

I used one from a 91 Ranger with a u-joint on one end. Tried to replace the flexible joints on my old one, but it kept binding (3" body lift). I looked at using one from a Jeep Cherokee which is what a lot of other people do, but it was a little too long and the 91 shaft fit perfect. I have the Jeep shaft on the left with 2 u-joints and it can be easily shortened without any welding. PM me if you are interested in buying it.

I just had a peek at the set up that is on my truck. It seems that the shaft is original from the column out- and then an extension was welded on. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll see what holds it on at the wheel side, inside the firewall. Then from there I can get a measurement off it and go from there..........
