Found a "sport" instrument cluster with the tach, installed it into
my 2.3 Ranger.
From what I read, the tach's are the same for the V6 and 4 cyl
vehicle, there's just an extra ground wire hooked up for the tach
when used in a V6.
Being originally a 4 cyl vehicle, I would think I could install a
V6 tach and it should work properly, cuz I wouldn't think that
extra ground wire for the V6 would be in the 4 cyl truck?
Well, my tach reads 1/3rd slow, just like it's trying to read
a V6 engine.
Anybody know?
I've got wiring diagrams - I'll have to look to see if, for some reason,
the factory hooked up that V6 ground wire in my 4 cyl vehicle.
The fun will be to find that ground wire without taking that instrument
cluster out again.
