Just the axle tag or the door sticker.

3.45 would be a valid number on a 7.5", but not 8.8"

nothing in the VIN unfortunately. is the tag not on the axle anymmore? from what i read the only axle that was 3L45 was a 7.5. the "L" in between the numbers means limited slip. So even if its a 7.5 you still have that going for it.

if you really want to know that badly you can pull the rear cover off and look at the numbers stamped into the ring gear, plus the fluids probably due to be changed anyway.

"L" = Limited Slip/Posi Yes I Know...

Pulling the Cover Was my Last Choice...

Dana 35s are In what, Explorers??? Dont Explorer Rear Axles mount
on top of the Springs??? I just want to Un-Bolt n Re-Bolt...
I dont want to have to Grind n Weld the Mounting Plates...

Also, What would a 4.10 8.8 Posi Rear Come in, 4.0 5 Speed Ranger??
Do 95+ Exploders (Disc Brakes) only Come With 3.73s??

I want to have 4.10s, 8.8.. Would Love Disc Brakes...

the dana 35 came in all explorers and all '90+ rangers.

an 8.8 out of an exploder will need to have the spring perches flipped (unless you want to lower the rear about 3"), as the explorers are spring under and rangers are spring over.

4.10's generally came in the older 4-cylinder trucks (most with 7.5's)...but can be found in just about any year or engine size (8.8 or 7.5). 7.5 l/s's are hit and miss. most exploder 8.8's (especially the AWD trucks) came with a l/s. you wont get discs unless you use an explorer axle (spring perch flip required).

AWD Exploders come with 3.73s?? so 8.8 4.10 Ranger not easy to find..
The /\ /\ /\ /\ Rears only have to Flip the Pearch?? Springs in same spot??

i dont know what gearing is usually used in the AWD exploders...im sure it varies like most other trucks.

the explorer axle requires the spring perch flip (i believe the springs are the same distance apart) and your rangers shock mounts to be attached to the axle (forgot to mention that before :D).

edit: youll also have to fab up a way to hook up the disk brake e-brake cable if you want a functioning e-brake....it doesnt just hook up to the rangers e-brake cables.

Most 95+ disk brake explorers came with 3.73s or 4.10s. You'll usually find the 4.10s in the higher end (some xlt, eddie bauer) models.
