My 1984 BII auto 4x4 would get 17 hiway & less in town.

My 1989 BII 5 speed would get 25 hiway & 22 combined..

WHen I lived in Colorado the best it would get was 29 hiway...
My brother also reported that when he lived in Denver he got significantly better fuel mileage with his 99 Ranger 4x4 3.0 than he did living in MN.

So, the question is, what's up with Colorado? We should all move there to get better fuel economy. :icon_rofl: I won't be moving there anytime soon... I'm guessing the reason is the air is much less oxygen rich requiring less fuel to reach stochiometric ratio required for optimal combustion.

Well, my fuel mileage in my 86 Automatic BII that is stock is about 15 mpg and I usually only drive city. My fuel gauge also only works untill about half a tank. When my gas gauge reads on E I fill up and get about 12 Gallons. So I just treat it as the gauge works fine and I am never under half a tank.
in my dakota i have a 22 gallon tank but when i fill up from E, i get 15-16 gallons. so at any given time there's always at least 6-7 gallons in the tank.

they do this to try to cut down on the dummies who run out of gas and block up roads.
