Little history:
I've been wanting a BII since the mid 90s; passed on a couple when I was young - couldn't afford, one I found was a mess, etc. (plus my wife doesn't like them - yeah, I know she needs to go). My favorite year is the 1988 (will buy 1 of these for my son or a 1990 - I like the grill/headlights of the 88s - but I do like the dash of the 90s)...after what I've learned, the Fuel Injection will be a better get for me as well.
Anyway, my Dad bought one new in 1985 (my Mom told me that it was similar in color to the one I picked up but was a tan and burgundy - she's trying to find a pic of it). I loved them then and I love them now...although my Mom said she always hated the stick in my Dad's. And my younger brother tried everything under the sun to wreck and ruin that truck - he drove the wheels off of it.
So, I've been looking and saving and really wanting one in the last 3 years for hunting, fishing and to beat around in on the weekends and started looking in earnest after I saw a great 90 model for sale and it was sold before I could get the owner on the phone. I found this one on Craigslist and when I saw the color scheme I figured prolly not abused (I'm the 4th owner) as well as the original tires. I went to see it and even though it's not perfect (leaks around the sunroof - the only feature I didn't like - I told the guy I bought it from that I would not have come and looked at it if I had seen the sunroof in the pics); shifter is sloppy; leaks oil around the valve cover gaskets; water pump was leaking (I didn't catch that); rear main seal leaks (didn't know that either); and he backed into the back corner with his truck...BUT, it runs like a champ, had new tires and he knocked off $300 so I left with it.
It is perfect for me and as I upgrade bits and pieces it will get better for me as I fix it.
