Hey guys....it happened again today....my oil pressure was 38psi in 5th gear at 2800 rpm while it was occuring...I am beginning to think it is a fuel injector gone bad.

I'm thinkin you really need to pull off your valve covers and check everything out. it sounds to me like a stuck lifter not anything with your fuel system. If you want to run a fuel system cleaner i would recommend some redline SI-1 best stuff i have ever used.
By the way how did you flush the engine.

at least we know it isnt an oil supply issue. i could see a sticky lifter making intermittant noise, but ive never seen a lifter cause a drop in power...though it makes sense that it would. my blue escort has a lazy lifter that ticks sometimes but its never effected driveability :dunno:

a fuel injector problem would make sense as they often get loud when failing. what you might have to do is pull over while the problem is occuring and see if you can locate the source of the noise (i know thats not the most convienient answer, but unless you want to start throwing parts at the truck...).

i dont suppose you still have the option of taking parts off your old motor do you?

I would need to check with the mechanic to see if he still has it....I did pull over and listen for the noise, it sounds as if it is coming from somewhere near the injectors...I know that doesn't help much.

YA so if get urself a long screwdriver or metal rod u can put it to wherever u suspect the noise is coming from then gently put the rod to ur ear u will be able to hear the difference very well and even at idle i suspect ur noise will be present.
and sweet im in the poor boat too.and one thing ive learned is the truck is twenty years old and its gonna make noise save urself the headache drive the moroe till it dies.and in the mean time save your money get ur hands on another motor that you have seen running so when this run breaks you will have a better one ready to go.
the stress aint worth it and the money you could put in to it could pay for a better one. good luck dude
