I need to get gas for mine, I can burn the welds so much hotter then flux will allow me to do.
Yeah I'm hoping it won't take too long. Unfortunately with my work schedule (and company vehicle) I'm not able to get the tanks filled. Every place local is closed when I have off. I'm gonna pass some cash to my buddy and hope he gets a chance to help me out haha

Thats flux core. Alot has to do with wire thickness as well. Thats .035
What size welder is your flux core? Nice welds. All my metal is old and rusted so it takes a lot of prep and isn't the prettiest. Almost out of all my 1/4" plate and other material so hopefully the next batch of metal I get isn't in such bad shape.

Another reason to go flux core. Its much more forgiving with rusted metal.

And its a mig pack 180, 220volt. Yea its a bigger one two of my buddys use the mig pack 140 which is 120 volt and neither has an issue and could put that same weld down with it. Flux core the ground has to be in the + position and the whip becomes the -

And again wire diameter is a big factor. .035 or .045 on say setting D (75%) with burn all sorts deeper into steel then .020 on the same setting

Made it back over a couple days to mess with some things. My front body mounts were rusted out so I made some new ones just with some angle. Also started taking out the 3" body lift blocks and then cutting the rest of the mounts off and moving them up 1.5". So it's still a bit of a body lift but without the blocks and overly long bolts

Also finished spray bombing my IDI and swapping the tow mirrors. Also picked up some clear corner lights.

Nothing wrong with the IDI, just giving it some TLC. The PO's spray bomb was uneven and faded so went and repainted it all satin black. Also the PO had put doors with tow mirrors on it. Well I couldnt adjust the mirrors and all the mounting posts had put stress on the door, denting and cracking the metal. I just bondo'd it up for now. I'll probably replace them later on, the doors he traded for are all rusted out underneath. The rest of the truck is mostly rust free.

Finished removing the body lift blocks and moving the cab mounts up this past weekend. Still gotta do the bed. But if I'm gonna be taking the bed off, I wanna put the matching bed back on. So since I'll have it completely off I'm considering just doing the bed bob and dove tail ahead of when I had planned. Still kinda thinking on it.

You can see the height difference on the body lines between the bed and cab.

Cut out the bottom curve of my frame horns and welded some angle in its place to make for a flat winch mount

Cut out the bottom front of my radiator support and then braced it after this picture

Test fit with the winch on before I started welding it on

I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to mount a winch since I have a big ass rad in the way.
