i have a 1987 ford ranger 4x4, id like a little more height front and rear, but want the front to sit level with the rear, should i go with a 2" BL? how would i get the front to sit level with the rear? just buying a kit?
Or what other options are there?

Do you have the link for the kit you bought?
Also, how hard was it to install?

The hardest part is getting an alignment afterwards. You'll probably need new camber/caster bushings to straighten it out.

Putting the springs in is as simple as:
Loosen lug nuts.
Jack the truck up by the frame until the wheel is off the ground.
Remove wheel.
Remove the big nut holding the bottom of the coil spring in. (1 1/8 wrench works ok or use same size socket and enough extensions to reach through the middle of the spring.)
Turn the spring to release it from the top. (You might have to remove one side of the shock mounting to get enough droop.)
Pull the old spring out.

Reinstall in reverse order and go do the other side.

Pretty much the same, just put some appropriately sized washers under the spring. Be careful though too much and it may not align. I ended up with a 1" stack on each side for about 1.5" of lift. (Guessing there cause mine was done at the same time as a D35 swap.)

The springs bbbc3 posted do the same thing just in a little different way. (Actually the "right" way I suppose, but the washers work.)
