For the year and a half I've owned my truck I have to hit my dash board because sometimes my tachometer won't work, but if I hit it it'll bounce back up. Anyway to fix that, or has anyone at least had this issue? It's a 99 ranger.

I have a neon that does the same with the speedo. They are famous for that. The fix for the neons is to pull the cluster and look at the the soldering job. Sometimes the solder has a crack that needs to be reheated to let it flow back together. I'm not saying that's the case in your truck but is a possibility.
Good luck,
Richard

Pull the dash and check the plug that the tachometer plugs in to

Mine is doing the same thing but i think it might be the tachometer itself in my case

I agree with Coolguy, the gauge sockets get dirty/oxidized and the connection fails. Clean and re-seat.
