Those door vents look like the "newer" style that the Gen II's had. Are they original style or from later models?

The ones in my 88 Ranger were shot and didn't do much to keep out cold air so I replaced the doors from the 92...much better seal and quieter with the extra insulation...different door handle and locking mechanisms so interchanging parts was not an option...

I'm not sure if they were replaced. The drivers door isn't original. The pass. door has the same style vent.

I pulled out the rear window, which is super easy btw, to figure out a rain leak issue. Turned out there was a seam that hadn't been fully sealed from the factory that was letting water in, also took care of a little bit of rust from where crud had sat under the seal for years.

I bought a polishing kit so I can buff out the aluminum frame to a nice shine. I was wanting to swap out for a solid window, but I think I'll keep the slider. I'm just worried it makes for an easy way to break in. It already has screwdriver marks where someone has tried before.

The temperatures kept me from going out and messing with it pretty much all winter. I should be back in business soon.

One option for the shifter is to get the stick out of a Dodge Dakota with a manual, cut the bottom off and weld it to the stock mount from the ranger. I’m not sure how the stick mounts on a Mitsubishi trans but it should work just the same. Be prepared for gear noise through the stick though. This also gives you the ability to mount any M10x1.5 thread shift knob.

Really enjoyable thread to read through here. Keep it up.

Oh and I've got a pair of coil springs in the classifieds that you might wanna have a look at and cross-reference on RockAuto. ;)

Awesome progress, very impressive.

Did you put anything on the back of the metal before you welded it in? I am going to have to put a patch in on the bottom of the DS A pillar and have been wondering if there was a paint that wouldn't burn away when I weld the little strip in.
