The manual says the 4.0V6/A4LD/3.55LS driveline has a max towing capacity of over 5000 lbs. That really great. However, my truck only has a 3000 lb Class III hitch on it.

Are there Ranger direct file Class IV hitches out there with more like the maximum 5000 lbs towing capacity? If not, is there something I can adapt from another truck like an explorer or F-150?

I would look up the "Class" ratings again.

Class II is 3,500/350
Class III is 5,000/500 and they are readily available for Rangers

Class IV is 10,000/1,000, I wouldn't even consider towing that much with a Ranger :)
