I posted in the transmission section but apparently nobody knows...:dunno:
I read the tech article on using a 4.0 clutch setup with a 2.9, but can it be done with a 2.8 and a TK5 transmission?

I am running an 8.8 rear and plan on a front 35 with 36" Swampers, the plan is to go to AT LEAST 4.56's and I'm gonna need a little more holding power than the stock clutch can give me.....

as long as your using the fm145 man 5 spd trans then u should be able to put a 4.0l clutch slave clyinder along with a 4.0l clutch basket and clutch plate and a 4.0l man trans flywheel will bolt together between the 2.8 and the fm145 trans
also if your looking to buy these parts new use a base vehicle of a 92 ranger 4.0l manual w 4x4
u should use the 4.0 starter also

okay so heres a lil more info that i stumbled upon on the web well looking for more info to dp my 4.0l swap

the TK5 trans has the same bolt pattern as the 2.8l 2.9l and both the 4.0l ohv & sohc

the tk5 trans was also used in the newer mustangs with also had the 4.0l

so this is guessing but it all seems like it would work
find which year mustang has your tk5 trans and 4.0 and buy the clutch internals pressure plate clutch plate for that

the only area that might be problematic would be the bolts on the flywheel im thinking 96 was the year they went to 8 bolts on the flywheel instead of 6 might end up being a combination of new mustang 4.0 clutch parts and the early explorer/ranger 4.0 flywheel

hope i was a little help
And maybe someone with a lil more knowledge can touch it up a bit
