I went to look at an 88 BII today. It had been in storage for the last 10 year. Some rust spots in certan places forming but not that a shop couldnt fix for a good price. The interior was AMAZING. Like new in every way, I couldnt believe it. It is that nasty red but the fact its in day 1 condish I can live with it.

The real problem is the motor shot, I need this for DD use and I don't want try to fix what it has. Rather just do a swap of some kind. Oil everywhere, I could tell where it was leaking because it was all over, even on the tranny and transfer case. I noticed there wasnt much water in it and when I started it rust water with a little oil blew out the tail pipe.

After I pointed out the work it needs he knew it wasnt worth much. What would you offer? $500?

Oh yeah so you have a motor... The trans is different since it's 2wd so.. But yeah. And you'll want an explorer 8.8 for a 31 spline build

Scrap value is about $200, I would go no higher than $300. Just depends how bad he wants to see it go away. $200 was the most I paid for any of my Bronco II's.

I'd have to agree with this. If you have the wrecked one with an engine than it sounds like you could be golden as long as you have the time (especially with a gen 1 dash / 4.0 swap)

Thats pretty cool that it still runs after sitting all that time!
