Hello all,

I am swapping a Ranger 8.8 in place of my 7.5

In the interest of saving time, is it possible to put the drum brakes together when the axle is sitting on my work bench? Or will that make it impossible to connect the parking brake cables with the shoes and everything already installed?

Thanks

-Brian

Parking brake cables have to be attached to the shoes before you put the drum together. Honestly, I don't think it takes all that much time to put drum brakes together.

That's what I thought.

One more thing, when I swap axles, do i need to swap the sensor from the top of the diff from my 7.5 into the 8.8 or are they the same? The 8.8 is from a 98 and my truck is a 95 if it matters.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Pretty sure they're the same. You can always undo the connector and unscrew it and check. When I swapped to my Explorer 8.8 from my 7.5" I plugged into the 8.8's sensor with the same harness. So at the least it connects the same.
