I think 1995 is OBD 1. my 94' is OBD 1, and is a pain in the rear trying to figure out the codes without having a shop lend a scanner...no one has them.

try doing the engine light blinking test to figure the codes.

mine throws the light every now and then as well, but I feel like mines due to the 02 sensor.

Do it right the first time !!!!!!!!!!
Oh I don't know about that.

Ever read all the safety stickers on products these days.
Each one is there because someone tried to sue a company because they were not warned to:
On a chain saw: "Do not try to stop chain with your hand or any body part"
Any body part????

On Washer AND Dryer: "DO NOT put any person in this washer/dryer"

On a curling iron: "For external use only!"

From adsm08: "DO NOT shoot foot to get DTC codes"
Now that's funny s__t !!!!!!!!!!

Take it to any auto parts store and have them run a free diagnostic by plugging into your ODBII (might be ODBI) and they can read the fault code.

I would hope that after 8.5 years he got it figured out.

But yes, most parts store will do free code reading on OBDII vehicles.

I'm laughing at myself a bit now too. This thread is only 4 years old. I looked at the OP's join date originally.

I had code P0128 , I replaced the thermostat ,the light is still on . Could it be with one of the two sensors near the thermostat housing ?
Any help would be welcomed . Thank You
John

"On Washer AND Dryer: "DO NOT put any person in this washer/dryer"

By "person" does that also include children and babies? thinking back to childhood and climbing into dryers then hand spinning them with sister or me in them.... damn how did we survive and get old enough to drive.....

It all depends on the production date you say you have 1995 But if its the OBD2 It can be all sorts of things I love my OBD1 rangers and my 2 new ford explorers. In 1994 late they started putting EGR'sw back on the 4.0 engines before that we did not have the EGR valves. In the OBD1 the check engine light did not like coming on so it did not.

But in the OBD2 ranger and explorers, you fart wrong in the seat the check engine light comes on and stays on. I've talked to guys back east about the 1995 and above 4.0 engine that have the EGR in cold wet areas of the USA the EGR is a Pain in the ass. Most guys that have it they go find a ranger with a intake that does not have the EGR valve and plug it off and have the computer flashed to take out the code for the EGR

On the OBD1 trucks and SUV its simple the gas cap Mass air the O2 sensor the IAC the throttle response switch. Those are the only things in my life here on the west coast is when the check engine light comes on.

I have the EGR on both my 98 Ranger and my 04 Lightning removed, along with all the sensors that go with the ugly ass thing. I've got Check Engine light in both, but they run great. Light, who cares? In my Ranger, it's covered with black tape. The Lightning, next Spring I'll be purchasing a tuner, so I'll have the tune edited to delete the EGR from the program. No more light. Thinking about removing all that crap from the 07 Mustang I recently bought. Ugly ass stuff.

I have one of those orange $40 scanners that I got from Vato Zone. Seen the exact same [part at Sears. But alas, they closed up at the end of 2016. ;-(

what is the date stamp on the door if yours is a June of 1995 you have a 1996 and that POS is a pile with the OBD2 To many bugs to many check engine lights but if you have the 1994 dash without the airbags then you are ok.
