Used to be that I wanted these from past reviews in magazines but the price was the no thanks factor. Now Edlebrock.com has an online store and I happened upon it a few weeks ago just to see what they had to offer for a RBV. Well the IAS shocks are on there and the price dropped to $31.99 each with free ship vs $99.99 each when they first came out.

Installing these was easier if you have a friend to help you but it's pretty straight forward and took roughly an hour. The truck has a much tighter feel now. The re-bound is faster than stock units and with the Firehawk tires it is as close to the original feel my Splash had when new.

Lifetime warranty through Edlebrock and a great deal! Get you some if your ready for new shocks. You won't be dissapointed.

I have been suggesting these for the last few months due to the price on the suspension forum of trs. I also have them on my 94 ex cab and they are awesome (coming from the orginal shocks that were still on the vehicle).

They also have great long travel shocks that are on the lower price side also, take a look.

I have these on my truck also, they really make for a stiff ride, especially with my 17s. I paid about 70 a shock, and that was a special price, for some reason Summit Racing was phasing them out when I got them 3 or 4 years ago.

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and ordered a set for my Ranger.

Can't beat that price for a quality shock.

Zman, the 17's should definitely attribute more to the "stiff ride" than the shocks.

trust me, they made it noticeably stiffer, especially the rear. :icon_thumby:

Unless you get measurements you'll have to go with the other guys. Edelbrock shocks are designed mostly for street use. The other versions are for stock 4x4's as stated on their catalog.

If you have a street Ranger or stock 4x4 they are great!

Just installed mine last week. and they are definitely a quality shock. They did NOT make the ride any rougher, or even "stiffer". They just absorb the jounce much better than the old stock shocks (which were impressively still functioning after 14 yrs). They also got rid of the unsettling "highway float".

I recommend these to anyone looking for a quality shock for very little cash. at the current price(~$30/shock) this shock cannot be beat IMHO.

Probably form the Edelbrock online store. I got mine there for that price, now I'm just waiting to do the rest of my suspension work before I install them. Though with the drop I'll be putting on the rear I may have to find a different way to mount the shocks. Does anyone know if stock shocks will work ok with the hangar flip?

they work fine with the hanger flip, any more than that and you'll need actual drop shocks. Unfortunately Edlebrock only makes shocks for stock applications.

Also, were they the "classic" shocks or the "performer IAS" shocks?

That would be the Performer IAS Shocks.

I have the Performer IAS Shocks, DJM Dream Beams, Poly Radius arm bushings and Poly Body Mount Bushings waiting to be installed. Now I just need new front and rear springs, leaf spring bushings, camber caster adjusters, bolts for the hangar flip, a place to install all of it and a little bit of luck that it'll work with the new wheels and tires.
