I have a question for you all: I am wanting to take a 4WD TK4 from a 85 BII and use a 2WD TK5 from a 87 Ranger. The goal is to make a 4wd, V-6 TK5. I am wanting to use the 2wd trans, with the 4WD bell housing and tailhousing. Is this possible?:icon_confused:

Yes, but you're going to have some issues with the rear driveshaft.

And of course the mainshaft. A correct-length tailhousing doesn't do much good if the mainshaft doesn't reach the transfer case. And I really wish I understood why people thought an adapter was the only important part of a 4x4 transmission....
