I did the floor and back wall of mine (2003) while I had the seats out for other work. After driving it to work for a couple days, I couldn't stand it. There was so much road noise I could barely hear the radio. There's A LOT of insulation in the carpet and headliner.

I Line-X'd the inside of my 89 BII and I don't think it's to loud. It's not my DD but it still hauls my butt to work about 5-7 days a month. I drive 30 miles one way and I listen to the radio or talk to my rider without having to yell.

Yes without the insulation and carpet it will be louder but not enough to want me to put carpet back in.

Hope that helps.

Ripped out my carpet about 2 months ago because of a bad leak. Been driving daily ever since. A bit louder with out the carpet, but it would be alot louder with the floor rusted through! I'm going to use bedliner as soon as I get my seat tracks.
