I have been a Ranger fan since buying my first 1986 XLT 4x4 2.9 EFI from my (not then) father-in-law when I was 20 for $800. It was imported from the states to Canada and the odometer had clocked over twice!
I drove that truck through 9 circles of Hell while tree-planting and thus named her Virgil (I know it's a male name, but figured since Virgil was Dante's guide through Hell...)

My next Ranger was a '94 XLT 4x4 4.0 named Beatrice. She was okay, but she had some issues I was unable to fix so I passed her along.

Currently I drive a 1988 XLT 4x4 (you may notice a theme) 2.9 EFI named Malacoda. This was an abused little work truck with some scrapes and dings from the previous owner having an argument with a fence post.

But now she's mine and I'm doing the best I can to keep her alive!

Catch you in the forums!

My credo
Love Thy Neighbor
Welcome Sam...a wyse thing to stick with something you know...and love!

I prefer the 2wd Rangers only because there is less things needing to be fixed or replaced...not that the 4x4 is not tough enough...just my experience that if you have extra toys on a truck they are likely to fail just when you get comfortable with them...

Anyway...enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been very fortunate with my 4x4 maintenance history. However, I think part-and-parcel is that I do love driving on local FSR's but I stick to 2WD most of the time. Only use the 4x4 when I get stuck! Mantra of my grandfather "If you get stuck in 4x4 then you can't get out with 4x4!"
