I just came up with and idea which will probably seem really stupid to most but maybe give others ideas.
if you do not have access to a welder you can use self tappers, for my u bolt clamps have always caved in my pipes and misshaped them enough leak and not come back apart in a useable way. Just an idea for anyone else, or something for everyone to make fun of

It will rattle loose just take it to your local ma and pop muffler shop and have it welded.

If you have something you want/need to be able to take back apart, go look up Accuseal clamps. They are a strap style clamp with a bolt.

You have to cut slits in the pipe so it can actually clamp it down properly but it's the only way to go if you want to be able to disassemble pipe. They're usually $10-12 each or less depending on where you find them, not bad considering they are stainless and plain old U bolt clamps are $4 each now.

You're right, the idea is only good for setting it up under the truck and pulling it off in one big piece for welding. I had high hopes for it
