I recently purchased a sandrail that had a junk 2.9 in it. Because I've read on here that the 4.0 swap is so easy, I went that route.
I bought a complete 94 Explorer with a weak tranny for $200.00
I pulled the ECM and wire harness out of the explorer to use on the sandrail.
My questions are:
1. Can I just unhook all the egr stuff?
2. Are all the harness connectors by the fuel rail necessary to operate? Only one connector was on the engine harness and the other 2 go to the body/frame harness.
3. Would it be easier to adapt an old GM alternator, or will the ford work with a stripped down harness.
4. Which wires out of the ECM are essential for this thing to run?
5. Can the O2 sensors be eliminated since i'm not into emissions anymore?
If anyone can point me in the directions of a wiring schematic, I may be able to pick my way through it.
Thanks for any help.
