I am starting on my 5.0 swap from a 99 mounty to a 00 ranger and have a few questions trying to keep the cost down. I have searched and not found an answer to them yet.
1 it seems everyone is using a 4.0 radiator in the swap but can you use the 5.0 radiator? my truck was a 3.0 and somehow the radiator was twisted some and I don't trust it.

2 all the 4406 swap threads seem to use a manual case and they are dealing with getting the lights to work but I was wondering if the electric 4406 would plug into the ranger and work? ( I don't want to have to cut the floor and work up a shifter)

3 how involved is it removing the ignition tumbler and the ring for the pats?

I am sure I will have more as I go but these are the basics

Most of your questions I can't answer. The PATS antenna is easy to remove. You take the column trim off and then it just unclips. To get the ignition lock out you have to roll the cylinder forward to run and then there is a pin you push in on the bottom of the column and the lock pulls out.

The Expo/Mounty 5.0 radiator is a perfect fit.

In my swap, I found my 3.0 fan shroud fit better after some light trimming than the 5.0 shroud.

did you use the clutch fan or electric fans?
also I got all the pats stuff out of the mounty now along with door locks pretty straight forward there
another question is should I keep the ranger ac condenser or swap in the one out of the mounty?

To date, still using the monstrously heavy OEM metal fan and clutch.

Working on building a dual electric fan system for it now. Already have the A/C pressure switch swapped and am trying to find the best way to fit a BMW dual speed temp switch.

Honestly, my purpose for moving to electric fans is more about being able to gain access to the front of the engine than anything else. Between the fan, clutch and shroud, it's way way too crowded in front and real PITA to get the pieces out when needed.

Use the 5.0 rad and 5.0 shroud. Your 1354 electric shift motor will bolt onto the 4406, the electrical connectors are different between the 54 and 06. There's a T15 or T20 torx bolt holding the pats transceiver to the column, 6 o'clock position. Don't forget to grab the pats module, behind the passenger airbag. You need the ecu, keys, pats transceiver and pats module all from the same donor, otherwise they'll need to be introduced...

It slides in the passenger side, with a retaining bolt on the driver side (or vise versa, cant remember). Pull the rad and condenser together, the explorer rad and condenser will fit in the ranger, 100% bolt in...
