I had taken the Explorer overhead console out that I put in my Ranger and was putting it back. I keep blowing a fuse when I turn on the map light. I can't figure out the wiring, and I can't figure why there isn't a connection on the cap side of the bulb. It's the earlier style console - early 90's.

Similar to this:

I see (1) wire on the dual connections for each light, but don't see how there can be a connection on the other side of the bulb. Anyone have this setup?

Dang Jim;It was your thread that I used to install mine. If I'm reading you correctly, It's the LT Green Wire in the console wiring and that connects to the LT Green Wire on the overhead / dome light. I'm betting you are pinching a wire under the console bracket or there is an issue w/ the dome light. I recently went through the same issue when I removed my OHC to install exterior overhead cab lights. Putting the console back I must have pinched a wire. Have you tried plugging the console back up and letting it hang by the wiring. Does it still blow the fuse? Seems to me you can put the dome light in wrong a have a fuse issue as well. Can't remember exactly, but I recall something there. I also may have pinched a wire under the sun visor or the little plastic keeper that keeps the visor from flopping around. While the OHC is out, I suggest that you cut a third slot in the roof to slip that bracket mounting clip in. That is what keeps everything snug. Those 2-mounting screws aren't enough to secure the installation.
