new to the site long time bronco lover needs to know if there is any major problems to take out the 7.5 rear end and change it to the 8.8

and what about the front i know my donor truck has bigger front end but what about the spring perches are the the same

the 8.8 will not bolt right inplace of the 7.5 in most cases.

where is the donor 8.8 coming from?

if it's an explorer 8.8 (which is the prefered swap in axle b/c of it's larger diamter axles) it will need spring perches welded on top of the axle instead of the bottom. new shock mounts will also be needed.

Should be a d35 in your donor truck up front. If it is a ford Ranger, the only problem you should have is connecting the driveshaft, you might not have matching connections.

The d35 should be straight bolt-in.

gotcha, well first, make sure that it actually is an 8.8, i know some of them came with 7.5's

secondly, you're not gonna gain much from that swap for the work it would take. an explorer 8.8 takes almost as much work to install as a ranger 8.8

except for some newer ones, a ranger 8.8 has 28 splines unlike an explorer which has 31. the axle shaft diameter in a ranger 8.8 is the same as a 7.5

the only strength you'll gain is going from a 7.5" ring gear to an 8.8" ring gear. i'd try to find an explorer 8.8.......one from a 95 or newer will have disc brakes. they are a little bit more $$$ tho.

i'm using a drum explorer 8.8, but it only cost me $50.

i'm using a drum explorer 8.8, but it only cost me $50.
x2. Go with an Ex 8.8 or just stay where you are and upgrade your front axle.
