Truck Details:

4.0L V6
1994 Ranger XLT

Problem:

The power door locks on my truck are acting very finicky. My truck has a remote start/key-less entry FOB. When I unlock the doors with the FOB it works 85% of the time but when I use the switches on the doors, they don't work at all.

I checked the voltage at the drivers side actuator (didn't have time to check the passenger side yet but they are paralleled so shouldn't matter) and I am getting a solid 12.34 V on the plug to the actuator. Depending on the direction that I have the switch (unlock/lock) it is positive and negative.
Which is also the same from wire to wire.

Any help is appreciated. Plan on getting the actuators out if I can and testing the actuators themselves.

Keyless entry systems have there own power source and bypass the switch panel. The connect directly to the acutuator, do you get the voltages with the use of the keyless entry or the switch panel button

Only checked from the door switches to get the voltage, not the key FOB.

Another note, the doors always unlock when I turn on the truck, regardless of acting up in other places. Not sure if that is significant.

So these voltage you read off where from the actuator with door panel switches, if so check the ground locations for a clean grounding point. Dont know where these locations are.

Ok, newer information.

Did continuity checks on the wiring, with the door switches removed. I did not get continuity from the Pink Black or Pink Orange to the drivers side door. Looking at the wiring diagram, I don't think I should be but I just wanted to check, the run through the actuators and it depends on the design of the mechanism if there should be.

Also, the passenger side door, with switches in place unlocks the doors but will not lock them. The drivers side does nothing.

Continued with some continuity checks between the switches flowing the wiring diagram here and found a severed wire in the tubing between the cab and the door. Spliced that and works now. Thanks for the advice though.
