I have a 04' ranger fx4 that had terrible road vibration. removed the front drive shaft and drove it, it runs flawless, like a new vehicle. any ideas to what is causing the vibration. i'm not tech savy but can give a description and use a wrench if it's 2 stroke. lol. Where the front of the foward end of the drive shaft goes into seemed like it had excessive play to me. i'm not sure any ideas?

Is there play at the front differential when the driveshaft is disconnected? If not, then I suspect a driveshaft u-joint. There should be absolutely no movement of the u-joint other than swiveling.
