My name is Chance, I am new to the forum, I'm new in the race scene, my ranger has been in my family since right off the lot in 88, very sentimental value to me and my family.

I am want to turn my ol girl into a enjoyable and daily driver race truck , but I don't know where to start, I would love to hear everyone's opinions and would love to see what everyone has done with their projects, what they run with their set up, HP, boost or no boost, etc!! Thank you in advance :)

Welcome to TRS.
So what type of racing were you thinking of? Is your truck 2wd or 4x4? Engine? Auto or Manual? How much money do you have in your budget? How mechanically knowledgeable are you? Give us something to go on so we can give some good suggestions.

I also have an '88. Is it a stick? Get a race knob for the shifter. If you can, try and put a higher performance engine in it, as well as a high performance transmission. You can also use high performance oil, like Castrol GTX. It's the oil I use in my truck, but honestly, I don't think it actually does anything.

That's all I have for you, since I only use my truck as a daily driver and just cruising around town.

Hopefully I helped a little.

Body work (fibergalss) and rear wheel tubs to add that superstock look are a neat way to go. Google Ford Ranger drag racer photos and there are a lot of neat looking trucks out there. Every once in a while we see the S-10's and older Rangers at the strip with glass hoods and monster meat tires at the rear. Most have V-8 motors with tunnel rams sticking out the hood that look pretty wicked. Some of the drivers use them on the street once in a while as well at the local drive-ins showing them off while getting their food and having a hot rod get together.
