I have 1984 Bronco II with a 1993 4.0 liter out of a explorer. The problem I'm having is that I cannot get the Brake On/Off (BOO Switch) to work. My Bronco is a 5 speed manual with a M/T computer. Does anybody have any ideas.

Have you replaced the switch?

yes the I have replaced the switch. The brake lights work and getting power from the switch to the computer. Since I live in California and trying to get the smog referee to pass he keeps telling me that the switch is not working. Not sure if its a computer problem or something else.

Go kick the referee in the nuts and move out of California, problem solved.

If the brake lights come on then the switch works fine. I know medical marajuna is legal in California, but crack isn't and your referee either needs to provide better info or stop being high at work.

I agree 100%. Been 4 times and get the same excuses everytime. I guess my next plan of attack is to paint the Bronco his favorite color. LOL

I am going to stick with "kick him in the nuts and tell him to stop doing drugs on the job".

Anyway, I did some looking, and on the Calif emissions system the BOO does provide an input to the PCM.

It runs to pin 2 at the computer, check for voltage there with the brakes applied, and if bad run a wire, if good, probably the wrong computer.
