I am assuming you are going to enter the Baja 1000 or King of the Hammers when this little project is complete?

Will it still be street legal?

define "street legal"... Ill likely only take it on the road if I have to, or during wheeling crossings. If i was to get pulled over, Im sure it would end up bad...

I guess it is a matter of what laws does it need to pass? Will you have a plate on it?

We have clearly written laws on this crap that most everyone ignores. For instance, you can't have more the 1" or 2" of tire sticking past your fenders. Then there are the lift laws and such. My Ranger actually failed inspection one time for not having the "factory" air cleaner because of the vacuum valve that pulls warm air off of the exhaust manifold was not in place :thefinger:

Got some more parts on the way, rear shocks: King 2.5" 18" travel remote reservoir smoothies, front bumps: King 2.0 2" travel hydro, some more 1.75" 0.120 wall DOM to finish cage work, and 1.5" 0.250 wall DOM for my steering. Finished mocking up the steering last night, will start making real parts soon.

Full bump:

Full droop:

A bit of both:

Took quite a while to get the linkages sorted out, that would clear in all positions. Things get tight in a hurry, but this seems to work very well.

Here's a video:

Nice. Does the passenger's side arm need a bend in it as well? Like on the steering tech page?

no bend required for the pass side. fully cycles with no bind straight.

Notice how on that setup the Pass tie rod is in front of the drivers, mine is the other way around. In order to get clearance I had to make mine this way.

Ohhhhh ok. I thought it was a symmetry thing to control bump steer.

Regardless, it looks awesome! BTW, hows your Super Duty been treating you?

...Super Duty was awesome, but just sold it. Bought a 5.0 FX4 loaded F-150 to daily until the ranger is done, then will buy a new diesel.

With mock up done, started fabricated real parts.

Started my pitman arm; Welded plate to the bottom section, and a washer as spacer:

Bent up bottom piece:

Welded, starting top piece:

Got that done, and made back piece

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n123/nshamilton/4317ADC6-9649-4FCC-9009-7C0A5EF6534A_zpsml89awne.jpg/img]

And finished pitman arm, all welds done with pre/post heat, 3/16" plate. Drilled for 5/8" bolt.

Installed:

Also started making the swinger, got some 1.5" OD Delrin to make bushings out of.

Drilled the delrin, and made other parts for the bushing, 1.75 .120 DOM outer sleeve, .75 .095 DOM inner, for a 9/16 bolt.

And made more parts.

Welded

Need to finish the swinger, and my DOM came in for tie rods/cage, so will pick that up this week. After steering will focus back on the cage a bit, and mounting rear shocks/front bump stops when they show up .

Cheers.
